Before focusing on family law, Garen worked across several practice areas, including personal injury, bankruptcy, and approximately five years in white-collar crime. That breadth of experience carries into his family law practice, where cases often involve detailed financial records and issues that intersect with other areas of law. Since being admitted to the California Bar in 2021, Garen has built his practice in family law, first at a boutique firm and, since 2025, at Cage & Miles. He handles litigation in courts across California, as well as research and briefing for the firm’s appellate matters.

Garen has worked on high-asset divorces involving closely held businesses, real property held through entities, and forensic accounting experts. His experience includes handling discovery and in-state and out-of-state subpoenas necessary to trace and value complex assets. He has also prepared contested custody matters for trial, including move-away disputes, and handled interstate support issues. On the appellate side, Garen has researched and assisted with the preparation of opening briefs, appendices, and writ petitions in family law appeals.

Garen’s approach to representing clients is to prepare every case as though it will go to trial while working toward the resolution that best serves the client’s interests. • Represented clients in domestic violence restraining order proceedings from initial requests through evidentiary hearings.
• Handled child and spousal support disputes, including modification requests, Department of Child Support Services proceedings, and interstate support matters.
• Assisted with family law appeals and writ petitions, including briefing, record preparation, and appellate appendices.

Outside of work, Garen enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs. Having played sports his entire life, he enjoys watching just about any game. He also likes cooking, working out, and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops throughout Southern California.
