While my divorce was extremely painful Jaime, Ryan and company did a great job at helping me get through it. I hired them because, when interviewing lawyers, Jaime Cage was the only attorney I met with who truly listened to me and addressed my specific concerns rather than giving me a canned sales pitch. My only initial hesitancy was that Jaime was a young attorney and I wasn't sure how she would fare against other attorneys with potentially more years under their belt. That concern was put to rest at our first court appearance where she immediately took charge and clearly demonstrated her expertise and command of the legal system. Unfortunately, my ex ending up taking me to court countless times. While many of motions filed by my ex were frivolous they were also incredibly scary with the potential to ruin my great relationship with my daughter and/or completely destroy me financially. Cage & Miles, specifically Jillian Duggan-Herd, represented me in a custody case related to the welfare and protection of my teenage, transgendered son. The outcome of the case was not exactly what I had hoped for (which had nothing to do with my representation) but was still very positive and what I considered to be in my son’s best interest with what information was available to the court.

Jillian was honest and realistic with me about everything throughout the process. If you do anything that may be considered inappropriate (even if you have the best intentions at heart) or are unrealistic in what you are asking for or your expectations, she will tell you.

She genuinely had my son’s best interests in mind throughout the process and that was apparent in the manner in which she handled the case. She is extremely knowledgeable and very confident when speaking in court and negotiating with opposing counsel. In addition to Jillian, the rest of the legal team at C&M was wonderful to work with. They do their best to stretch your retainer by having other team members jump in and help with tasks that may not require Jillian’s attention—I think this is standard practice, but appreciated nonetheless. Jillian was honest up-front about the amount of money that I would likely be spending over the course of the case. This was valued because I think it helped me decide whether or not I was willing/able to take on that sort of financial obligation. I’d much rather have that knowledge up-front, than to run through my retainer and be unprepared (or unable) to refill it prior to completion of the case. Retaining an attorney can be very costly. I think it is important to know what you are getting when putting down such a large amount of money. C&M has many different attorneys working for their firm with a range of different rates. I was provided a list of available attorneys and their rates prior to moving forward with the free consult. I read the attorneys’ bios and researched them online before making a decision. Jillian’s services were on the more costly side; however, I felt that with her knowledge and experience, she was the best fit for my specific situation. The process of preparing and going to court can be extremely stressful, but having Jillian there to take the reins certainly minimized my anxiety. I have an immense amount of respect for her and what she does and highly recommend her and the C&M team to anyone looking to retain an attorney for family court needs.

Attorney John Sylvester represented me on an appeal filed by my ex on a domestic violence restraining order that I had won. Appeals are not easy.
