Meet Avi

Avi Levy represents clients in complex California family law matters, with a focus on high net worth divorce, high conflict custody disputes, sophisticated financial issues, and litigation. As Managing Partner of Cage & Miles’ Los Angeles office, he helps clients navigate decisions that can have lasting consequences for their families and financial futures.

Avi takes time to understand each client’s priorities and develops a strategy around the facts most likely to matter in negotiation or court. He looks for opportunities to reach a sound resolution while preparing every contested matter with litigation in mind. Avi has practiced family law exclusively since 2002. He has resolved hundreds of high asset divorce matters and tried complex family law cases throughout California.

Many of Avi’s cases involve complex questions of income, property, and support. He works closely with forensic accountants and other financial experts on business valuations, separate property tracing, income available for support, and the treatment of trusts and other sophisticated assets. He brings that financial analysis into both settlement negotiations and trial preparation, so that clients understand the issues at stake and the options available to them.

Avi graduated from UCLA School of Law and earned his undergraduate degree in political science, cum laude, from UCLA. He became a Certified Family Law Specialist in 2011. He was admitted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2020 and the International Academy of Family Lawyers in 2021.

Beyond his work for clients, Avi is active in family law organizations at the state, national, and international levels. He currently serves as President of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists and Vice President of Programs for the AAML Southern California Chapter. He has presented educational programs for family law professionals on subjects including civility, attorney fees, date of separation, discovery, and trial practice. He has also testified before the California Assembly and Senate Judiciary Committees on family law legislation.

Outside of Practice

Outside his law practice, Avi produces short films and is working on a feature film, with Palm Springs providing the setting for many of his projects. He loves live theatre and makes time for Broadway whenever he is in New York. He also enjoys travel, particularly to Mexico for its art, food, music, and culture, and hosting friends for themed dinners and holidays.

At home, Avi is devoted to Kenzo, his Shiba Inu. He is also an excellent singer when no one is listening and an unbeatable dancer when no one is watching, or so he claims.
