Paralegal — San Diego, CA
As a key member of our legal team, this Paralegal will manage family law cases from start to finish, supporting firm Partner Jillian Duggan-Herd through detailed document preparation, case tracking, discovery work, and trial readiness. This role is fast-paced, collaborative, and requires excellent organization and attention to detail.

About This Position
We are a rapidly growing law firm seeking a detail-oriented, multi-tasking Paralegal to own the lifecycle of their cases - from initial filings to trial preparation. You'll work to support firm Partner Jillian Duggan-Herd to ensure deadlines are met, procedures are followed, and the highest quality work product is delivered. Responsibilities
- Track case progress from “start to finish” ensuring all deadlines are met and all procedures are properly followed
- Prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests/responses, financial disclosures, and client declarations
- Analyze, review and organize discovery materials
- Prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits, preparing filings, and creating binders
- Communicate with clients proactively regarding their case
- Review financial documents
- Investigate facts by performing public records and social media searches
- Maintain the attorney's calendar to schedule meetings, calendar hearings, discovery, etc.
- Maintain current knowledge of all rules of court and local rules
- Direct and coordinate law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas or service of documents
- Delegate administrative tasks to legal assistants as available while ensuring all work is completed. Perform all Legal Secretary duties but may delegate tasks as available.
- Assisting attorneys with projects as needed and other duties as assigned



Requirements
- Paralegal Certificate required, bachelor's degree a plus
- Minimum 5 years' experience in family law in San Diego County required
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Experience supporting a firm partner or CFLS preferred
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities
- High attention to detail with the ability to follow complex instructions accurately
- Resourceful, proactive, and experienced with managing multiple deadlines
- Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office software



Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this role is: $40/hr - $50/hr, but ultimately will depend on experience.

Additonal Information
- This role can be fully remote, hybrid, or in-person at our Mission Valley office if preferred, Monday - Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm.
