Attorney Specialities: Divorce, Child Custody and Support, Legal Separation, Domestic Violence Restraining Orders

Allison has practiced family law since 2021, bringing more than five years of experience representing clients in a range of family law matters and litigation. Before becoming an attorney, she clerked at a boutique San Diego law firm from 2018 to 2021, gaining hands-on experience in all facets of family law and litigation while assisting attorneys with case preparation and client advocacy.

After passing the California Bar Exam, Allison joined Cage & Miles as an associate attorney, where she has worked alongside experienced family law attorneys on client advocacy, trial preparation, discovery, and case strategy. This experience has provided her with a strong foundation in family law litigation and the practical skills necessary to confidently advocate for clients as a lead attorney. Her practice focuses on complex family law matters involving high-conflict custody, domestic violence, move-away issues, and the unique needs of children with special needs. She also brings experience handling the financial complexities of divorce, including property division, and representing clients with technical and scientific backgrounds.

Allison’s approach to representing clients is to provide clear legal guidance and thoughtful support while ensuring they feel informed and confident throughout what can be an unfamiliar or overwhelming legal process. Representative matters include:

  • Successfully obtained a move-away order allowing the father to relocate with the minor child and establish primary physical custody in a county outside of San Diego.
  • Successfully resolved a three-year, highly contested family law matter involving child custody, child support, and spousal support that had been set for a three-day trial, achieving an outcome that satisfied the client.
  • Obtained a final order granting the client sole legal decision-making authority for the minor child.
  • San Diego Family Law Bar Association - 2017 to present
  • Guest speaker at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, discussing the practice of family law in a private law firm setting with law students.
  • Regularly attend quarterly seminars hosted by the San Diego Family Law Bar Association to stay current on developments in family law, legal practice, and procedure.
  • Participate in “brown bag” educational seminars held at San Diego courthouses throughout the year to stay informed on local court practices and emerging family law issues.

Outside of practice Allison enjoys spending time with her Welsh Corgi, Freyja, who has been a constant companion throughout law school, litigation, and life. She also enjoys off-roading, camping, and experiencing the great outdoors with her husband. She is a true-crime fanatic and will never miss a Dateline episode.

Client Testimonials

This is a really honest review. Choosing Allison at Cage & Miles Law was one of the best decisions I made during my custody case. I initially started the process on my own, but after trying to navigate everything myself, I realized I needed an attorney. After my consultation with Allison, I knew I had found the right attorney. From that point on, Allison and her legal assistant, Kaitlyn, helped me navigate what felt like an incredibly complex and overwhelming process. Allison was not only an exceptional attorney but also incredibly compassionate. She was always honest about the possible outcomes, what was realistic, and what I could expect throughout the process. At the same time, she never left it at that--she worked with me to develop strategies that gave us the best possible chance of reaching the outcome we were hoping for. Right before our case was called, I started tearing up because my anxiety was through the roof. Allison talked me through it and helped calm me down before we walked up. That level of compassion and support meant more to me than I can put into words. Watching Allison advocate for me in the courtroom was one of the most memorable parts of my experience. She was confident, fearless, and exceptionally prepared. Listening to her challenge the opposing counsel's arguments and explain the facts so clearly was incredibly reassuring. Every point she made was thoughtful, well thought out, and delivered with confidence, and seeing her in action confirmed why I had chosen her to represent me. Her expertise and advocacy made all the difference, and I truly don't believe I would have achieved the outcome I did without her. Kaitlyn was an essential part of the entire process. She was always responsive, helpful, and supportive whenever I had questions. One thing I especially appreciated was how proactive she was. If I hadn't signed a document or responded to an email, she didn't just send one message and wait--she would always follow up again within the hour to make sure I had seen it and to remind me if something needed my attention. As a busy parent balancing work and my kids, those follow-up reminders were incredibly helpful because it was easy for something to slip my mind. Her persistence kept everything moving and made the entire process much less stressful. There honestly isn't anything I would have changed about my experience. I am incredibly grateful for everything Allison and Kaitlyn did for me, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone needing a family law attorney.

My team at Cage & Miles (Mehry and Allison) did a great job in my case. They were my second lawyers on the case and had to clean up what was left over. They were very professional and answered all my questions when I needed them answered. They promoted good behavior on both sides and will correct you if you step out of line or make their jobs harder. I come from the south and I trusted the people at Cage & Miles to have my back and they did. They earned a forever customer. Good luck to you in your case.
